Paleo-Huntress

“A paleo huntress downs a Catoblepas.”

When TerraDome, by RuntimeDNA, was released back in late 2009, I bought a copy. I thought it would be a great addition to Poser, and I still think so. The documentation that comes with it is pretty good and will get you started quickly.

Ever since the release of TerraDome, add-ons have been introduced by the makers of TerraDome and third parties; like TerraDome: Earthen and TerraDome AquaZone. However, and although these add-ons are great, their documentation is not. Some even promise samples, that frankly, after so much time, have not materialized. So be warned about that.

Poser, as well as DAZ Studio, are not landscaping 3D applications, for that you use Vue, Bryce, or even Carrara. That doesn’t stop Published Artists (PAs) from getting creative (please note that TerraDome does not work with DAZ Studio, but you have other products that do; like MicroCosm, also sold at RuntimeDNA). So thanks to them you have the option of creating some really great landscape scenes in Poser & DAZ Studio; including scenes with oceans!

In this scene, I put together with TerraDome, I went back in time to the Paleo era with some fantasy thrown in; like the the female huntress. I used the figure Tindra Thompson for the Victoria V4 base, and the V4 clothing that comes with the BC Mega-Pak; the BC pack set also includes weapons, such as the claw spear she is holding; a great set to have. For the beast, I used the mythical creature the Catoblepas, sold at DAZ.

I was totally blown away by the lighting. The render settings I used were Manual settings with cast shadows, ray tracing, and no gamma correction.
